Wading through the myriad of websites in search of contests and other publication opportunities can be an exhausting chore.

In my recent search for viable contests for my latest book, Just Keep Breathing – Second Edition, I happened across some useful information.  A word to the wise writers:  Before you submit your blood, sweat and tears to any company for a writing contest, check them out carefully to ensure it is a good fit for you and your writing.

Glimmer Train Contests

Glimmer Train is a company started in 1990 by two sisters who have done worthy work in short-story compilations.  If your story wins a place in one of their books, you could be paid handsomely for your contribution.   These books are also excellent reads.

Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest

In this contest, writers submit only one, single sentence (via email).  You may submit as many entries as you wish.  See website for deadlines and rules.
